CPR is a unique professional service concept
for the 21st Century where a team of like-minded and like-abled professionals from different areas of expertise
work together so that individuals, businesses, non-profits, community efforts, spiritual institutions, families, our environment,
our governments, and our community can benefit from a more cost-effective, multidisciplinary approach to preventing and managing
problems and disputes.
The CPR Team that we are building is a combination of
independant professionals, who are not only successful in their own areas of services, they have exhibited the understanding
and ability to be collaborative problem solvers. Traditional
practices, such as law and accounting, are often done in isolation of each other and to the exclusion of important "missing"
key players such as financial advisors, or strategic planners and managers. In many situations there may be emotional, medical or spiritual issues as well.
As we all know, the traditional legal practice has typically
focused on the legal issues primarily, if not only. The dissatisfaction with lawyers and the legal process of resolving
disputes has been evident for years. You can win the battle but lose the war. The Founder of CPR is Jeanne Hall of the Plowden Hall Law Firm, PLLC and she has been working
in the conflict management field for years in the Carolinas in recognition of this problem, and almost 15 years ago put together
a prestigious group of mediators for a company called "Carolina Mediation, Inc." These mediators were some
of the finest, including a former Chief Justice of the SC Supreme Ct, a former Chairman of the SC Tax Commission, and
many others who were arguably the best of the best.
Shortly thereafter, Jeanne was involved at the state level in mediation and arbitration training,
developing related community programs and governmental systems, and much more. It became clear to Jeanne and many of her
colleagues of most disciplines, that the practice of law could not be done in a vacuum any more, and the same with most
other professional practices.
CPR is the result of over 15 years of experience, professional education, self education, two
international conferences (in SC), workshops, system designs and implementation, and the identification and
building of collaborative team members, which is now focused and active in the Brevard area.
Collaboration of all necessary resources, not duplication, is the key to providing the most
cost and time-effective services. Very few problems or conflicts are single dimensional and when an important part of
that matter is not considered and handled, then prevention or a resolution is compromised.
CPR is building this team in
Brevard and the WNC area as you read this web site. Each independent member must not only have expertise, they must have
the key qualities of effective teamwork and collaboration. Active listening, understanding and use of effective communication
skills, creative thinking, ability to spot red flags outside of their areas of expertise, ability to think
and plan both globally but also at the more analytical strategic level, and most of all, the ability to work with and
appreciate the work of others.
This is what professional services
should and must look like in the 21st century in order to stay competitive and effective. Mankind has arguably evolved physically
and mentally to a very high level as individuals, but now is the time for evolution in communications and team work.
Adversity,
confrontational, lack of civility, as well as the command and control style of management have all arguably proven themselves
to be at minimum very unpleasant, and at worst, escalate problems exponentially.
CPR is about real, proven skills, services and strategies in a world where common sense,
lack of hidden agendas, cooperative and collaboration provide the foundational principles of its mission, vision and
values.
